Gear Ratios = Polyrhythms

Each gear triggers a sound on every revolution. When gears of different sizes are connected, they rotate at different rates, naturally producing a polyrhythmic pattern.

Angles = Pitch

The angle at which gears connect determines their pitch. Gears inherit their notes from their neighbors, so making one small change can have cascading harmonic effects.
